What do adult toys and technology have in common?

What do adult toys and technology have in common? A lot! Just as technology in general is continually evolving, the technology used to create, power and refine sex toys continues to evolve. Once upon a time, there seemed to be just two options for vibrators: hard plastic molded into the shape of an elongated egg, or a standard shaft. Generally they were powered by 1-3 AA batteries, or in some cases, 2-4 C or D batteries. Dildos were made out of jelly material, which is porous (meaning bacteria can find plenty of faces to hide), full of pthalates, and tends to break down over time (especially if it comes into contact with other jelly toys, or oil- or silicone-based lubricants).

These days, sex toys are available in many different materials and with many different features, and some are powered by regular batteries, others are powered by rechargeable batteries, and some are even powered by standard wall outlets and even solar power! EdenFantasys showcases many of these products on their site, and they make it easy to find these specific products because they offer powerful search features that allow you to seek out and streamline your results by product material and power options (and there are many other options too, including manufacturer, style, color, size, etc.).

How to boot Apple OS X in Safe Mode

Tags: ,

Apple OS X Safe Mode Today, by necessity, I did some quick searching and discovered how to boot my Macbook in safe mode (in case you’re curious, I had to do this because I stupidly used a third party program to “force” my Macbook’s resolution to an unsupported one, thereby rendering my display unusable – solid gray). Booting Apple OS X in safe mode couldn’t be any easier:

  1. Power off your computer or laptop, if it’s still on
  2. Turn on your computer or laptop
  3. Immediately after you hear the tone indicating Apple OS X is starting up, hold down the shift key
  4. Continue holding down the shift key until the gray spinning indicator appears beneath the apple logo, then release
  5. Wait for your operating system to load – this may take longer than usual

And that’s it! Now you’re in safe mode, and hopefully any changes you made rendering Apple OS X inoperable will have been undone.

My husband’s T-Mobile G2 has water damage

Tags: ,

My husband has a four month old T-Mobile G2 that has somehow encountered water damage. What the hell? It’s never been dropped in a body of water, submerged, or even had anything spilled on it. Yet it died sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning, and when we opened up the phone there were the telltale signs of a water-damaged T-Mobile G2: the water damage indicator stickers on both the phone chassis and the battery were red (instead of white), and the word “void” is now showing up on the inside of the phone, along the side.

We’re slightly optimistic that the phone is not a goner, however, as it was initially charging, though the charging indicator light would switch from a steady amber/orange to blinking, alternating between amber/orange and green. Today it only charges for about two seconds, then there’s no indicator at all. From checking around on a few forums, it’s possible that the battery is dead, but that we can salvage the phone itself. I sure hope that’s the case!

Suddenly, I’m feeling old

Times change, and so do prices. I distinctly remember purchasing a 256mb USB flash drive back in 2005 for about $16. Two weeks ago I purchased a 4gb USB flash drive for about $11. I still remember when CD burners first became “mainstream”. The year was 2001, and PlayStation 2 was all the rage – in fact, my husband had bought me one as an early Christmas present. My mom and I were at Walmart checking out the electronics, and I saw an external (stand-alone) CD burner for the “awesome” price of “just” $199. We wound up not getting it, and I’m glad we didn’t, because about two years later computers began coming with them by default. Now, as you probably know, you can buy a standalone CD burner for less than $20. But with the increase of storage options such as USB flash drives and networked external hard drives, I don’t think the demand for CD burners and blank media to burn data on is anywhere close to what it once was.

Copy iTunes playlist to Android – who’d have thought it would be so simple?

Tags: , , ,

After doing a few searches on Google to figure out how I could possibly copy one of my iTunes playlists to my Android phone, I decided, on a whim, to try simply copying my playlist directly from iTunes by hitting CTRL + A and then CTRL + C, then opening up my cellphone’s SD card directly through Windows Explorer and hitting CTRL + V — and it worked!

So there you go. If you want to add music from iTunes or a specific iTunes playlist to your Android phone, simply copy the music or playlist from within iTunes, and then paste it into your phone’s SD card via Windows Explorer.

Is your password secure enough?

Tags:

password security Inspired by my husband’s recent need to change his password after his Gmail account was compromised, I decided to put together a quick post that outlines the basics of password security: do’s and don’ts, how to know if your password is secure enough, etc.

First, the biggest no-no of passwords is to use the word “password”. Or your username or email address. Or your name. Or your birthdate. Or your city, state, country, parts of your address, etc. Try to stay away from real names, and if possible real words, too.

Change your password periodically. I update mine every six months. Granted, I should probably change it every 1-3 months, but every six months is better than never, right?

Don’t use one password for all of your logins. But don’t drive yourself crazy by trying to keep track of numerous passwords, either. Instead, try “categories” of passwords – one for email accounts, one for your bills and utilities, another for bank accounts, etc.

Things to keep in mind when choosing a password:

Finally, I recommend checking the security of your password with an online password checker. Microsoft has a decent one here.

Interesting Advertising Regulations From Around the World

Many people might argue that there is no regulation in the advertising industry – or at least not nearly enough. In reality, the advertising agency is subject to some fairly stringent rules and regulations, both in the U.S. and abroad. Many countries have adopted some very interesting and strict policies and regulations for advertisers. Here is a sampling from around the world of some of the more interesting advertising rules.

Advertising Regulations of Interest from Around the World

Several European countries have set some strict rules for advertising that is aimed at children. For example,

Around the world, advertising of tobacco products and alcohol are the most highly-regulated of campaigns. The United Kingdom in particular has some very pointed advertising regulations for such products. A couple examples of this include:

It is interesting to know that, pervasive as advertising is in modern life and society, there actually is a lot of control and regulation of the industry across nations. What is mentioned here is just a sampling, but does bring to light some certain food for thought and some points of interest.

An interesting use for wireless technology

Wireless technology is used for many things, including:

But did you know that wireless technology has been incorporated into sex toys?! I was browsing EdenFantasys recently, and I could not get over just how many wireless vibrators they have. Wireless is nice not only because you don’t have to worry about getting pesky cords in the way, but also because you and your partner can have some fun with each other without even being within touching range!

Believe it or not, while I have a pretty impressive stash of products thanks to EdenFantasys’ awesome prices, frequent promotions and coupon codes (here’s one I just found: use coupon code HEART to save 20% on select rabbit-style products!), and great shipping deals (free shipping on orders $59+ is just one of the shipping-related perks), wireless products are not a part of that stash. Hmm. With cooler weather just around the corner and the kids now back in school full time, that is perhaps something I’ll have to change, no?

Have you shopped at EdenFantasys? Are there any specific products you’d recommend? Feel free to share in the comments!

I hate buying batteries

Buying batteries sucks. First, I always run out of them at the most inopportune time – when I want to try out a new remote; would prefer to use my mouse instead of a track pad; or when I want to try a new sex toy. I won’t lie or even beat around the bush: adult products are something I use regularly, both on my own and with my husband (and don’t worry about him being left out – he too has a little supply of goodies!). With our very busy lives, hormone fluctuations and even the occasional desire to try something new, adult toys can make a great addition to the bedroom.

Best of all, today’s advances in technology have produced many high quality, enjoyable adult toys – vibrators and the like – that feature interior, non-accessible rechargeable batteries. These are my favorite kind of toy, since I obviously won’t be doing a mid-evening Target run or raiding a remote control or mouse for the number of double A batteries I need. Interested in adding a more high-tech, eco-friendly sex toy to your collection? Check out some of the rechargeable vibrators at EdenFantasys!

Adult toys go high tech

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store The days of burning through packs of batteries like there’s no tomorrow are over. Thanks to technology and many manufacturers having the desire to please all of their customers, including the environmentally-conscious ones, many of today’s adult toys feature rechargeable batteries. EdenFantasys carries thousands of adult products, and they have an entire section dedicated to rechargeable vibrators. My personal favorites come from LELO, a luxury brand of adult products for men, women, couples’ play and solo play.

The only “downside” to choosing these high tech toys is having all of these special charging cables and docks lying around! Fortunately, I have two storage chests that I store my goodies in, and I use those small blank address labels found in any office supply store or aisle to identify what charger or dock goes with what product. Trust me, the last thing I want to worry about is digging through a pile of vibrators and a pile of cords to try and match up the right vibe with the right cord!

In addition to rechargeable vibrators, EdenFantasys also has other “green” products — wood, glass and steel toys, for instance, that are free of the synthetic and harsh chemicals so commonly found in other toys; as well as toys that run on AC only — so no batteries required!
